State Government has declared Friday Public Holiday and shut markets ahead of President Tinubu’s visit.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Bayelsa State Government has declared Friday a work-free day and ordered the closure of markets across the state ahead of the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The announcement was made on Thursday in Yenagoa by the state Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai.

According to her, the state is fully prepared to receive the President during his one-day official visit.

“As we all know, the state is ready and we are prepared as a people to receive the father of the nation, our leader and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who will be in the state on a one-day visit to inaugurate four legacy projects,” she said.

Koku-Obiyai explained that the work-free day declared for Friday, April 10, 2026, is intended to allow workers and residents to participate in activities planned for the President’s visit.

She added that Tinubu is expected to inaugurate several key infrastructure projects during the trip. These include a state-owned gas turbine located at Opolo-Elebele, a 60-kilometre dual carriageway stretching from Onopa to the LNG axis, and a 630-metre bridge connecting Angiama to Oporoma in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area.

The commissioner urged residents, including traders, to comply with the directive and turn out in large numbers to welcome the President.

The state government noted that the measures were introduced to ensure a smooth and successful visit by the President.
