Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

FG has declared March 19 and 20 Public Holidays for Eid-el-Fitr Celebration.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19, and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark Eid al-Fitr, signaling the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

 

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.

 

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Muslim faithful on the successful completion of the fasting period.

Tunji-Ojo urged adherents to uphold the values of love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice cultivated during Ramadan, stressing their importance in nation-building.

 

He also called on Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the country’s continued peace, unity, and prosperity.

 

While wishing Muslims a joyful celebration, the minister encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and extend kindness to the less privileged.

 

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting national unity and peaceful coexistence among all Nigerians.
