Nigerian workers have secretly withdrawn support for Peter Obi as Tinubu Visits NLC in Abuja

Newsonline reports that the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has secretly withdrawn Support for the Labour Party, presidential candidate, Peter Obi, following the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, meeting with the workers on Monday.

Tinubu, who met with the Nigerian workers at the NLC headquarters in Abuja said his government would be fair and just to the Nigerian workers if elected into power.

Tinubu’s invitation was part of the plans to withdraw the earlier support given to Peter Obi of the Labour Party, a top official of the NLC told SaharaReporters.

“NLC appears to have broken ranks with Peter Obi of LP, and Tinubu was invited today to address workers at our headquarters,” the source said.

NLC had in June openly declared its support for Obi in the 2023 elections.

According to Ayuba Wabba, the workers union president, Obi is one of the finest Nigerians and the first presidential candidate of the LP to be recognised by the labour centre.

Wabba said the NLC was solidly behind the LP and would fully mobilise to ensure the victory of the party at the 2023 polls.
