2023 Election: Again, Ekiti PDP Backs Ayu, Refutes Makinde

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to the suit of Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike asking for the removal of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate, stating that Wike has invested and harvested much from the PDP.

Newsonline reports that the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Debo Ologunagba, stated that Wike is a loyal member who cannot leave a party he has helped so much to build.

Debo Ologunagba maintained that the suit from Wike against the party and Atiku cannot diminish the governor’s importance to the party.

Debo however stated that Wike told the world that he would respect the outcome of the primary election held in May and should not change his mind.

In a statement released on Friday in reaction to Governor Wike’s suit, Debo said, “Governor Wike is an important member of this party. He is a man who has invested so much in this party. He has also harvested so much from the party; the party has also promoted him.

“He has said in so many fora that he is a committed party man and has remained loyal to the party since inception.

“Before the presidential primaries which he contested, he told the whole world that he was ready to respect the outcome of the elections. I have no evidence that he has changed his mind.”

Newsonline had reported that Wikes filed a case against the party, Atiku Abubakar, the party presidential candidate, and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal demanding that he be recognized as the party’s presidential election flag bearer come 2023 general election.
