2023 Election: Why I Told Tinubu I Can't Work With Him- Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has disclosed why he refused to accept the offer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, bola Tinubu and work for him come 2023 general election.

Newsonline reports that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor said he is not as selfish as other presidential aspirants who also bought senatorial form along with presidential form.

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, further disclosed that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, offered him a senatorial ticket when they met in London, the United Kingdom.

Recall that Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state, and former governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke visited the former Lagos State governor in London in August for partnership in the 2023 election.

The Rivers state governor who has been at war with his party’s presidential candidate and national chairman, Atiku Abubakar and Iyorchia Ayu respectively, revealed this during a media chat on Friday morning.

The governor arranged the chat in a bid to address the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party.

According to Wike, he contested the presidential primaries because he wanted to be the candidate, so he didn’t buy a senatorial form.

Wike said in his media chat in Portharcourt, “I didn’t contest so I can become a vice presidential candidate.

“I am not like others who were not serious and bought senatorial form alongside presidential form, and that’s why when Tinubu offered me senate slot, I didn’t go for it.”
