The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, on Thursday flew into the United States of America for economic engagement, though this was possible with some settlements alleged to have been made by the 2023 election presidential candidate.

Newsonline reported that Atiku his in tweet states that his arrival to the United States was to seek ways to collaborate with the US government on boosting Nigeria economy.

Atiku said, “I just arrived in Washington, D.C, for meetings and engagements to build an economically stronger and more secure Nigeria!”

Giving further information on what the activity of the former vice president under president Olusegun Obasanjo would be while in the US, the Peoples Democratic Party in a statement revealed that Atiku will discuss ways of improving Foreign Direct Investment with the US Chamber of Commerce.

The main opposition party added that Atiku will also discuss with private investors on opportunities in the country for investment.

PDP in a terse statement said, “While in the US, the former Vice President is scheduled to meet with the American Chambers of Commerce, as part of his engagement with investors oversea to build an economically stronger and more secure Nigeria if he is elected as president in 2023.”

Atiku/Okowa presidential campaign organization spokesman, Daniel Bwala further disclosed that the Waziri of Adamawa who is contesting for the position of the presidency for the fourth time is in the US because he wants to give effect to his manifesto while also seeking Foreign Direct Investment.

“Atiku is focused on engagements that would provoke Foreign Direct Investment in Nigeria. Taking steps to give effect to our manifesto,” Daniel Bwala said.

However, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Omoyele Sowore alleged that due to alleged money laundering and corruption charges against Atiku in the United States, he made so much settlement to be allowed entry.

Sowore in a tweet said, “Whereas it cost average Nigerians less than $2k to travel to the US, Atiku
must consult with lobbyists, lawyers, immigration experts and probably have to wear an ankle bracelet in order to visit the US because of his past corrupt and money laundering history with the US, this doesn’t come cheap. The reason they celebrate his perennial costly visit to the US.”
