Newsonline reports that this was disclosed by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Debo Ologunagba while interacting with journalists on Friday in Abuja.
Debo who spoke on plans been made to ensure inclusivity assured Nigerians that amid the crisis read in the media the party is firm and united to rescue Nigeria from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Though Ologunagba did not disclose the day for the unveiling of the campaign council members, Newsonline reports that it may come after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting slated to hold on Thursday, September 8 at the party’s headquarters.
The national publicity secretary also assured Nigerians that the party will come out of its internal crisis.
According to Debo, “The PDP is alive. We are active and we are working hard on our mission statement. We are working on our campaign council. In a couple of days it will be unveiled for the people to see.
“Irrespective of what we are reading in the newspapers, I can tell you that the PDP is firm and ready for the 2023 general elections. We tell our members and Nigerians that the PDP is here and the darkness is going and the countdown has started.”
Ologunagba added, “The key is this: the entire members of this party, leaders and stakeholders agreed on one issue; that Nigeria is the main issue and that we must rescue the country.’’
The war of words between Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman and Nyesom Wike, Rivers state governor has been of serious concern to political analysts who see PDP as the strong opposition that can beat the ruling APC.
While Wike is insisting on the resignation of Ayu as the party’s national chairman, Ayu in an interview with BBC Hausa on Tuesday, described Wike and his camp as “children”, stating he would not allow them to disrupt the party.
