2022 UTME: What All JAMB Candidates Should Know

Newsonline reports that the 2022 edition of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will commence across the 36 states and the federal capital territory (FCT) in Nigeria today, Friday, May 6, 2022.

 

This online news platform understands that the 2022 UTME is a computer-based test that serves as an entrance examination for secondary school leavers seeking admission into Nigerian public tertiary institutions.

Newsonline Nigeria reports that every year, over 1.5 million candidates sit for the examination. This year, JAMB said 1,837,011 candidates registered for the examination.

 

Ahead of the examination, JAMB said it has made arrangements for successful conduct across the 750 centres nationwide.

 

The examination body has, however, listed the dos and don’ts for the candidates, and warned that failure to adhere strictly to its instructions will not be condoned.

“Candidates are also to note that no examination would be rescheduled for whatever reason,” JAMB said.

JAMB has announced that the examination will be held between Friday, May 6, and Saturday, 14. It, therefore, advised candidates to reprint their slips from April 30.

 

It said the details of the centre and dates for each of the candidates is to enable the candidates to know their allocated examination centres, session, time and dates of examinations.

JAMB said the reprinting of slip can be done anywhere on a computer with an internet connection and a printer. “And candidates are to go to the examination centre with at least a copy of the slip.”

To avoid lateness to their centres, JAMB advised that candidates who are not familiar with their examination centres should visit the venue ahead of their dates of the examination so as to find it easy to locate on the date of their examination.

 

JAMB Biometric Verification Policy Notice to Examiners & Candidates

 

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB wishes to inform all candidates and examiners that the Policy of ”No Biometric Verification, No Examination” is still active in the forthcoming examination.

All Candidates who intend to sit for the board examination are subjected to biometric verification as there will be no exemption mode for biometrics.

The board has also disclosed the Importance of the JAMB Biometric Verification and also arranged for Special Examinations for candidates having issues with biometric verification in Abuja.

 

JAMB Suspends Biometric Thumbprint & Verification after Exam

 

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Biometric Thumbprint / Verification after Each Candidates Examination.

 

This is to inform all candidates who will be sitting for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that they are free to go to their respective homes immediately after they are through with their examination without filing out again for another bio-metric verification or thumbprint.

 

Candidates are no longer have to wait to be signed out through another round of biometric verification after the examination.

According to the Board verification of candidates before the commencement of the examination is still in full effect.

The introduction of the biometric by the board is to get rid of all forms of malpractice in the conduct of the UTME Examination.
