White House Breaks Silence On Documents Linking Trump To Jeffrey Epstein

Trump’s name reportedly appears among hundreds of individuals who had past social or professional associations with Epstein. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the story, clarified that inclusion in the files does not imply criminal wrongdoing.

White House has broken their silence on documents linking Trump to Jeffrey Epstein.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the White House has rejected claims that former President Donald Trump is implicated in documents held by the US Department of Justice relating to convicted paedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

A spokesman described the reports as “nothing more than a continuation of the fake news stories concocted by the Democrats and the liberal media”, following fresh media coverage alleging Trump’s name appears in multiple justice department files.

The pushback came after a federal judge rejected a government bid to unseal court files from a 2006 Florida case against Epstein, citing state laws protecting grand jury secrecy.

Despite the denials, a White House official told Reuters they were not disputing that Trump’s name is mentioned in the documents, some of which were already made public earlier this year and included contact details for members of Trump’s family.

Trump’s name reportedly appears among hundreds of individuals who had past social or professional associations with Epstein. The Wall Street Journal, which first reported the story, clarified that inclusion in the files does not imply criminal wrongdoing. Trump has never been accused of any offence in relation to the Epstein case.

Attorney General Pam Bondi reportedly briefed Trump earlier this year that the records contain unverified information, including hearsay, and also sensitive material such as child pornography and details of victims.

Bondi has since stated that the files contain no grounds for further investigation or prosecution, a position echoed by FBI Director Kash Patel, who condemned media coverage as a politically motivated smear.

The Epstein case continues to stir controversy in Washington. During his campaign, Trump pledged to release Epstein-related files, but Judge Robin Rosenberg’s ruling on Wednesday has stalled that effort for now. She ruled that the Florida grand jury records must remain sealed and declined to transfer the matter to New York, where separate requests to unseal other Epstein-related documents remain pending.

Attention has also returned to Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in the abuse. Her lawyer confirmed to the BBC that US officials plan to meet her in prison and that Maxwell may testify remotely before Congress in August.

House Republicans remain divided over how to proceed. While Speaker Mike Johnson warned Maxwell is not a credible witness, a faction of Republican lawmakers joined Democrats in voting to subpoena further files from the justice department. The move requires final approval from House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer.

Bondi’s recent assertion that no “incriminating client list” exists and that Epstein died by suicide has triggered anger among some Trump supporters, who accuse her of backing away from earlier promises of full disclosure.

Meanwhile, Democrats have seized on the Republican infighting, accusing the Trump administration of orchestrating a cover-up and using procedural tactics—such as early closure of Congress for the summer recess—to block transparency.
