House of Representatives candidate for Federal Capital Territory Constituency, under African Democratic Congress (ADC) party, Barr. Juliet Isi Ikhayere, has assured that her win come 2023 election will be a win for Nigerian youths and women.

Newsonline reports that Ikhayere said if Nigerian youths and women elected her and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, a window of opportunity will be opened for all women and youths.

Barrister Ikhayere said this on Thursday while addressing youths on why they should actively ensure that a quality representative for FCT constituency is elected alongside Peter Obi.

“When I win, the youths win and the women win as well. The entire Nigeria will know that it is POssible to win a National elective seat when the people are with you. FCT is Obidient as well as JULIFIED. As e Dey sweet una, e Dey sweet me. I don’t take my candidacy for granted,” she tweeted on her Twitter handle.

In a six-point reason, Ikhayere pointed out why youths and women should support her ambition to be at the Green Chamber in 2023 representing FCT constituency.

“Here is why we need to win the seat of HOR FCT come 2023; FCT houses all the 37 states representation of Nigeria and all foreign diplomats but yet has never felt the impact of people’s oriented representation all the years ‘No inclusion in Government’.

“Over the years, majority of the enlightened persons, those who reside and settle permanently never understood that they play a major role in deciding governance in the Centre of Unity “FCT” and so left the land to be controlled by the oppressors who do and undo here in the FCT.

“Youths you can’t claim to be politically exposed now as a result of the emergence of PO (Peter Obi) and yet few look inward to the representatives that will champion your collective cause in the National parliament. If not for distractions, the Parliament is the watchdog of the Executives.”

The ADC candidate added that women have been denied the passage of the gender bill because there is not enough representation of women in the National Assembly.

Ikhayere said her election would be a door opener for women and youths to aspire for a better Nigeria.

“The next generation is watching, your kids are watching to see if the majority of the enlightened will gravitate towards amplifying their voice and making them understand that education is not a waste, your young daughter is watching to see if being politically enlightened is right.

“Have we all thought about this, not just PO (Peter Obi) winning, that when Juliet Ikhayere wins, the world will stand tall for Nigeria, that not just the youngest National Parliamentarian has been elected, an even competent has been and yes the first female in FCT. It will open doors for others,” she added.
