UCL: Mbappe Overtakes Ronaldo’s Record with Stunning Hat-Trick

The French star made history with three goals, setting a new milestone in the Champions League.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has broken Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League record after netting a hat-trick against Kairat in midweek.

The France captain put Madrid ahead in the 25th minute with a penalty after Franco Mastantuono was brought down in the box.

Mbappe added his second after the break and sealed his treble in the 73rd minute to complete a memorable night.

Mbappe’s hat-trick against Kairat puts the former Paris Saint-Germain forward into an elite group of just six players to have scored 60 or more goals in Champions League history.

The 26-year-old reached the milestone faster than several legends of the competition, including Cristiano Ronaldo. Mbappe needed only 89 appearances to hit 60 goals, while Ronaldo required 98 games to get there.

The former Monaco striker still trails Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski, who reached the same landmark in 80 and 85 matches, respectively.
