Tinubu Pledges Completion of National Defence College Permanent Site Over Strategic Importance

Tinubu urged the graduating officers to embody excellence, courage, patriotism, and integrity, while encouraging international participants to strengthen bonds of cooperation between their nations and Nigeria.

President Tinubu has pledged the completion of National Defence College Permanent Site over its strategic importance.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the permanent site of the National Defence College (NDC) to enhance its capacity for delivering strategic training to Nigeria and allied nations.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the graduation of 99 participants of NDC Course 33 in Abuja on Friday, Tinubu said the government would ensure the college evolves into a defence postgraduate university when fully equipped.

The graduating set comprised senior officers from the Nigerian Army (25), Navy (16), Air Force (12), Police (5), ministries, departments, and agencies (18), as well as 23 participants from 19 allied countries.

The president directed the college’s commandant to collaborate with the Minister of Defence to develop a clear strategy for upgrading facilities at the permanent site in Piwoyi, noting that while progress had been made, much work remained.

“I assure you that this administration is committed to completing the permanent site,” he said, adding that government would explore additional interventions to boost infrastructure.

Tinubu urged the graduating officers to embody excellence, courage, patriotism, and integrity, while encouraging international participants to strengthen bonds of cooperation between their nations and Nigeria.

He also commended the college’s management and faculty for producing a new set of strategic leaders after 48 weeks of rigorous training.

“I have directed that relevant stakeholders study your recommendations and adopt strategies that strengthen indigenous manufacturing, as this is indispensable to our security and development,” he added.
