Reno Omokri Publishes Email Evidence of Peter Obi’s 2019 VP Nomination Process

Omokri’s latest disclosure adds a new layer to the political history surrounding the 2019 general election, in which President Muhammadu Buhari defeated the Atiku-Obi ticket to secure re-election.

Reno Omokri has published email evidence of Peter Obi’s 2019 VP Nomination Process.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has released what he claims is email evidence showing his pivotal role in the selection of Peter Obi as the running mate to Atiku Abubakar during the 2019 presidential election.

In a public statement shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Omokri included a screenshot of an email purportedly sent to him by Peter Obi at 6:13 PM on Monday, October 8, 2018—just four days before Obi was officially announced as Atiku’s running mate on October 12, 2018.

According to Omokri, the email was sent in response to instructions from Atiku for Obi to submit his curriculum vitae, further supporting Omokri’s earlier claims that he played a key role in presenting Obi as a viable vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 elections.

“I am sure very reasonable and objective Nigerians can read his email, follow the timeline, and draw whatever inference they want,” Omokri stated.

He emphasized that his motivation for publishing the email was to defend his credibility after being called a liar on a recent podcast by a supporter of Peter Obi.

“If this email is fake or AI-generated, then I challenge Mr. Obi to deny it, and I will publish even more damning evidence,” Omokri added, stressing that he keeps meticulous records of political events and correspondence.

Omokri’s statement follows his recent claim that he helped “package” Obi as a running mate in 2019—a statement that was met with backlash from supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate, popularly known as the “Obidient Movement.”

As of the time of this report, neither Peter Obi nor his campaign team has issued a formal response to the latest claims.

Peter Obi, who was the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate and former governor of Anambra State, ran against both Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and the eventual winner, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC.

Omokri’s latest disclosure adds a new layer to the political history surrounding the 2019 general election, in which President Muhammadu Buhari defeated the Atiku-Obi ticket to secure re-election.
