Regina Daniels Reveals She Once Attempted Suicide After Family Opposed Her Marriage to Ned Nwoko

The Nollywood actress opened up about a dark moment in her past, confessing that she once drove out at night intending to end her life after her family rejected her relationship with billionaire businessman Ned Nwoko.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Popular Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, has appealed to Nigerians to stop hurling insults at her mother, Rita Daniels, over her marital crisis with her estranged husband, Ned Nwoko.

According to reports, Regina’s family has accused Nwoko of arresting her brother and allegedly vowing not to release him unless the actress returns home and agrees to go for rehabilitation.

The tension between the couple escalated after a viral video surfaced showing Regina in tears, accusing her husband of manhandling her — an allegation Nwoko has since denied, claiming instead that the actress is battling drug addiction.

While many netizens have criticised Rita Daniels for allowing her daughter to marry the politician, Regina clarified in an emotional video shared on Instagram that her mother was not responsible for her marital decision.

The actress revealed that her family, including her mother and brothers, had warned her against marrying Nwoko, but she refused because she was deeply in love.

Regina went on to recount how she fled from home late at night when her family tried to stop the marriage, adding that she was so determined that she even reported herself to the police.

In her words:

“The main reason for this video is to beg everyone — please stop insulting my mom. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me, my god on earth. For seven years, she held it down for us. She tried her best, and I’ll forever be grateful.

“It was never her fault. Everyone in my family warned me. My mom warned me, my brothers warned me, but I refused to listen because I thought I was in love.

“I even drove out at night, ready to kill myself if I couldn’t marry Ned. My brothers were fighting, everyone was searching for me. I went to the police station myself and said, ‘Arrest me, my family doesn’t want me to marry the love of my life.’ That’s how far I went because I truly believed I was in love.”
