Peter Obi: Arewa Prefers Young Candidate, ‘ill Decide After Consultation – Shettima

Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, has said the group prefers a young candidate as president of Nigeria but will decide after consultation.

Newsonline reports that the youth wing of the Northern socio-political organization, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, said the reality of the country requires a young candidate as president for the effective running of the country.

The President-General, AYCF, Yerima Shettima, stated this on Monday while making known the position of the socio-political organization on the candidates for the 2023 general election.

Yerima Shettima said except that other people’s opinions would say, that old wisdom is needed in running the country, Nigeria needs only a young president.

“It has always been my view for a younger generation, with the happens now, we need little time to look in words and see what is likely to come up. Nothing is stable at the moment, we have not seen their running mate and we look forward to seeing those who will identify with the younger generation.

“There are other younger elements we have in the like of Sowore, Peter Obi, Kwankwaso, and the rest. I think we have a lot of opportunities to decide and whoever we decide after consultations, we will take out position at the appropriate time.

“We will build capacity and synergy among the younger generation to ensure that we go one way and ensure this country moves forward.”

Shettima stated that the final decision is for Nigerians who are affected by the leadership of the country, to make.

He noted that Nigerians would decide who to pick between Peter Obi, Tinubu, Atiku, and other Presidential candidates.

“We should not be in a hurry to conclude because we have other younger elements that are participating in various platforms.

“Don’t forget that APC and PDP are not the only political parties so I think Nigerians have a choice to decide who they think would serve them better now,” he concluded.

Newsonline had reported that Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi has been enjoying massive youth followership in the build-up to the 2023 general election.
