Opposition Leader, Peter Obi
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for presenting misleading statistics that hide Nigeria’s worsening economic challenges.
In a post on X, Obi recalled how Tinubu, during the 2023 presidential campaign, dismissed his emphasis on data, mocking him by saying, “Na statistics we go chop? All I want is to put food on the table of Nigerians.”
Now, two years into his presidency, Obi pointed out that Nigeria remains one of the hungriest countries globally, with millions uncertain of their next meal. He accused Tinubu of “overfeeding Nigerians with wrong statistics” on unemployment, inflation, and GDP rebasing to create a false impression of economic improvement.
Obi emphasized that true leadership must be grounded in honesty, vision, and integrity, stating, “Governance is not rocket science. It is not a gamble. It requires sincerity of purpose, character, competence, capacity and compassion.”
