NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Popular Nigerian rapper Oladips has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of extorting ₦10 million from him.
The artist made the revelation nearly a year after his arrest during a midnight raid at his residence.
According to reports, Oladips and several of his neighbors were apprehended by EFCC operatives in November 2024 over alleged internet fraud.
Nigerian rapper Oladips has recounted his unpleasant experience with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that the agency collected ₦10 million from him before securing his release.
The artist, who was arrested during a midnight raid in his estate in November 2024, revealed that he spent five days in detention despite investigators finding nothing incriminating against him.
Speaking on the Trending Podcast, Oladips described the conditions of the EFCC cell as deplorable, saying he and others were “packed like sardines” and given poor-quality food. He disclosed that fellow artiste Zlatan Ibile came through for him during that period by sending good meals.
He lamented, “I’m not even supposed to be there in the first place. They didn’t find anything on me, yet they collected ₦10 million before releasing me. Nigeria just happened to me.”
When asked if he planned to take legal action against the EFCC, Oladips replied that he wouldn’t, saying, “Who is my father? It’s just me and my truth. I don’t know how the system works. They know I’m saying the truth — they didn’t find anything, yet they still collected money from me.”
