
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has announced the appointment of two seasoned professionals; Mr. Andy Odeh and Mrs. Morenike Adewunmi to head its Corporate Communications and Relations functions.
The move, according to the company, is part of efforts to strengthen stakeholder engagement and enhance brand positioning.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, NNPC confirmed that Odeh will serve as Chief Corporate Communications Officer, while Adewunmi takes over as Chief Relations Officer.
Odeh brings over 30 years of experience in communications and business administration, including a distinguished 26-year career with Nigeria LNG (NLNG). At NLNG, he held various leadership roles in corporate communications, public affairs, government relations, and regulatory compliance, eventually rising to General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development.
He is credited with spearheading NLNG’s corporate rebranding, instituting the NLNG Prize for Energy Reporting, and designing one of Nigeria’s most impactful micro-credit schemes for host communities. An alumnus of the University of Jos, University of Lagos, INSEAD Business School, and the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Odeh is widely respected as a communications strategist.
Mrs. Adewunmi, a trained lawyer, joins with more than 25 years of industry experience, largely from her career with Shell Companies in Nigeria (SCIN). She served as Regulatory Affairs Manager and Government Relations Manager, where she managed high-level engagement with the Presidency, ministries, departments, and regulatory bodies.
She is recognized for her expertise in stakeholder management, advocacy, non-technical risk management, and her strong leadership acumen. Adewunmi studied law at Olabisi Onabanjo University and was called to the Nigerian Bar after training at the Nigerian Law School.
According to NNPC, the appointments reflect its commitment to deepening communication, strengthening stakeholder trust, and advancing its transformation agenda.
