Nigerian Navy and Air Force Announce Major Promotions, Elevating 241 Senior Officers (FULL LIST)

The Nigerian Navy and Air Force have announced major promotions, elevating 241 Senior Officers.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Armed Forces have confirmed the promotion of 241 senior officers across the Nigerian Navy (NN) and Nigerian Air Force (NAF), marking one of the largest advancement cycles in recent years.

Nigerian Navy Promotes 127 Senior Officers

 

A statement issued by the Naval Spokesman, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, revealed that the Navy Board approved the promotion of 127 officers to higher ranks on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

The breakdown includes:

  • 15 Commodores promoted to Rear Admiral

  • 31 Captains elevated to Commodore

  • 81 Commanders promoted to Captain

The newly promoted Rear Admirals are:
Olumide Olajide Fadahunsi, Patrick Emuebie Meteke, Ponfa Paul Nimmyel, Sulieman Wale Olorundare, Johnson Adekunle Adewoyin, Cajethan Nnabuchi Aniaku, Anthony Victor Kujoh, Abdulrahman Mohammed, Chinonyerem Emmanuel Oji, Adamu Yahaya, Chindo Usman Yahaya, Aminu Abdullahi, Orakwue Dennis Nnatu, Usman Garba Bala, and Samuel Anwuli Ogwu.

Thirty-one senior officers were elevated to Commodore, including Solomon Olushola Ohunenese, Mahmud Abubakar Fana, Taofiq Migdad Gidado, Mahmoud Hamman Hammanyero, Aliyu Gagidiba Abdullahi, Suleiman Gachi Muhammed, Abubakar Umar Sani, Mohammed Ali Kolo, Murtala Tafida Sulieman, Emmanuel Tamunosiki Fingesi, Suleiman Musa Abdullahi, Mustapha Tagoje Abdullahi, Olanrewaju Bejide Animasahun, Owens Ediale Adams Izilien, Olabode Teniola, Chris Chijioke Ali, Kabir Oladele Olanrewaju, Uzezi Egweh, Charles Eyo Iso, Elisha Bawa, Olumide Omololu Faneye, Oscar Chukwunonso Mbanu, Henry Ebute Ejeh, Galadima Mohammed Ciroma, Osuolale Ayotunde Eyitayo, Emmanuel Ajah Onu, Abubakar Ozovehe Aliyu, Ahmadu Shehu Mohammed, Ogbeche Richard Ochagu, Anastasia Nkechi Ossai, and Feyisara Medinat Solebo.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, congratulated the officers and urged them to remain dedicated to their duties and loyal to the nation and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigerian Air Force Promotes 114 Senior Officers

 

The Nigerian Air Force has also approved the promotion of 27 Air Vice Marshals, 30 Air Commodores, and 57 senior officers, according to a statement by NAF’s Spokesman, Air Cdre Ehimen Ejodame.

Ejodame notes that the promotions strengthen the service’s leadership capacity amid expanding security challenges nationwide.

Officers elevated to Air Vice Marshal include SA Eyoma, GI Jibia, AA Adebomehin, ES Odekina, CE Akubue, SO Eyekosi, AO Akinbuwa, LI Kamat, AG Akinyimika, AO Bamidele, AK Famuyiwa, PJ Edem, SA Madaki, OT Salami, FO Ankeli, MJ Chidama, JJ Ijudigal, M Umar, IJ Ogbodo, U Ariahu, AL Dakwat, CE Akpa, EC Ukpong, IS Subi, IM Yusha’u, SS Lazarus, and F Ekpah.

Elevated to Air Commodore are Group Captains MA Imam, AA Komolafe, HI Eze, DU Edet, MB Umar, GH Okoh, SP Sekegor, PP Okonkwo, PU Okweugo, AU Yahaya, M Yahaya, IR Ubeh, OK Cole, EA Ifebi, RK Olundu, IO Akpasa, AK Mohammed, HA Meshack, SN Nwachi, ZB Shuwa, EJ Alabila, SA Osoniyi, AO Ogunmola, AJ Arumona, BI Jayeoba, CE Akuh, NN Onuoha-Mba, PA Garba, YM Abdullahi, and M Suleiman.

Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, Chief of the Air Staff, described the promotions as recognition of professional excellence, leadership capacity, and commitment to national security. He emphasized that Nigeria’s current security challenges require leaders who can respond with speed, clarity, discipline, and innovation.

He urged the officers to uphold integrity, enhance inter-service cooperation, strengthen intelligence operations, and continue mentoring junior personnel.

The Air Force reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing reforms aimed at developing a more agile, technology-driven, and combat-ready force capable of delivering decisive airpower when required.

Both the Navy and Air Force congratulated the newly promoted officers and expressed confidence in their ability to deliver on the responsibilities of their new ranks.
