NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Abayomi Whint, a Nigerian woman based in the United States (U.S), has been officially sworn in as a judge for the Kings County New York Civil Court.
The announcement was made through a video titled ‘Welcome to the Bench, Your Honor!’ shared on her Instagram page on Thursday, January 23.
Whint was one of eight candidates elected as judges in Brooklyn during the November 2024 elections.
In the video, Whint, who took her oath at Brooklyn Law School, was celebrated by her family and friends, who cheered her on while dressed in white and green.
“To discharge the duties of the office of judge for the Kings County New York Civil Court, according to the best of my ability. So help me God,” Whint said.

She is a skilled litigator, certified mediator, and arbitrator, specializing in conflict resolution.
In addition to her legal expertise, Whint has been actively involved in organizational leadership, where she focused on creating inclusive environments, team building, and promoting restorative practices as a certified Restorative Circle Keeper.
