NECO has released 2025 SSCE External Results and over 80% score five credits and above.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External results, with more than 80 per cent of candidates achieving five credits and above. The announcement was made on Tuesday by NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, during a press briefing at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.

In a video shared on NECO’s X handle, Prof. Wushishi stated, “It is my pleasure to declare the 2025 SSCE External Results released. Candidates can access their results on the NECO official website, www.neco.gov.ng, using their examination registration number.”

The 2025 SSCE External examined sixteen subjects, with 96,979 candidates registered, including 51,823 males (53.43%) and 45,156 females (46.56%). Out of the total, 95,160 candidates sat for the exams.

In English Language, 93,425 candidates participated, with 73,167 (78.32%) obtaining credit and above. Mathematics saw 93,330 candidates sit, and 85,256 (91.35%) achieved credit and above. Overall, 68,166 candidates (71.63%) secured five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics, while 82,082 candidates (86.26%) recorded five credits and above regardless of English and Mathematics performance.

Addressing examination malpractice, Prof. Wushishi revealed that 9,016 candidates were booked for various forms of misconduct—a 31.7% increase from 6,160 cases recorded in 2024. Five supervisors—two from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and one each from Kano, Adamawa, and Ondo States—were recommended for blacklisting for aiding malpractice. Additionally, four examination centres—two in Niger State, and one each in Yobe and Kano—were recommended for de-recognition due to involvement in whole-centre malpractice.

The SSCE External is primarily aimed at private candidates seeking certification outside the regular school system. NECO conducts the examination to provide opportunities for candidates who missed the internal SSCE or wish to improve their grades.

The results can now be accessed online at www.neco.gov.ng.
