
Mimiko has emerged as the ZLP Candidate for Ondo Governorship Election.
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Abass Mimiko, the younger brother of former Governor Olusegun Mimiko, has clinched the gubernatorial candidacy of the ZLP ahead of the Ondo State election which comes up in November this year.
The declaration was made on Wednesday during the ZLP primary election convened at the party’s headquarters in Akure. Party members unanimously ratified Abass Mimiko as their candidate.
In his acceptance speech, Mimiko, a medical practitioner by profession, delineated his vision for the state, highlighting pivotal sectors including education, healthcare, the economy, and security.
“We are a force to be reckoned with in this election; we will ensure food security; within a year of our being in office, we will have a surplus of food in Ondo State,” he declared.

Mimiko further committed to prioritizing accessible and quality education, fostering industrialization, facilitating housing projects, and providing free healthcare services for all residents of Ondo State.
Grateful for the support he has garnered, Mimiko acknowledged his brother’s endorsement and expressed confidence in his gubernatorial aspirations.
“My brother is happy that I am coming out because he knows I will build on his achievements,” he affirmed.
The primary was preceded by a state congress, during which Cornelius Akintoye emerged as the new state chairman of ZLP in Ondo State.
This development sets the stage for an intense campaign leading up to the state elections.
