Lagos Government shuts down 34 companies (FULL LIST)

Seyi Alade, the Director of Legal Services at LIRS, disclosed this on Monday while addressing a state-wide tax law enforcement exercise.

 Lagos Government has shut down 34 companies in the state over tax debts.

 

Newsonline Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has shut down 34 companies over failure to remit personal income tax of their employees and non-remittance of other taxes worth N356.12 million.

 

This Nigeria news platform understands that Seyi Alade, the Director of Legal Services at LIRS, disclosed this on Monday while addressing a state-wide tax law enforcement exercise.

He said the offices shut down include operators within the state’s hospitality sector.

 

“These companies deduct personal income taxes from their employees’ salaries at the end of each month and charge consumption taxes on goods and services purchased by customers.

 

“Unfortunately, some unpatriotic firms withhold these payments, illegally converting the funds for their own use,” he said.
