
Professor Adebowale has been named University of Ibadan Vice Chancellor.
Newsonline reports that the incumbent Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, has been named the new substantive vice chancellor of the university.
Adebowale, a professor of Chemistry was announced the 13th substantive VC of the university on Thursday evening after the screening by the VC Selection Board.
The chairman of the University of Ibadan Governing Council, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, confirmed this to journalists.
Sixteen candidates had applied for the position but Prof. Remi Raji withdrew from the race, bringing the number down to 15.
A former Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Adeyinka Aderinto; the acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Ekanola, Prof. H. Fawehinmi, Prof. O. Farounbi, Prof. B. Salako; Prof. G. Aderounmu and Prof. O. Ademowo also made the final stage of the screening before Adebowale was announced as the new VC.
