Newsonline reports that only N165 billion has been deposited as of Friday, November 18 2022, roughly a week after the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) announced the redesign of some naira notes.
The apex bank however said some big banks with large depositors base were yet to make any deposits.
CBN Currency Director, Alhaji Bello Umar, stated these at Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) post briefing.
Umar said the CBN has not seen the much- anticipated rush by the public to make large deposits.
Umar announced that the distribution of the new currencies to banks will commence on Thursday
