Secondary School students in Bauchi, on Monday, took to the streets to protest the plan by the state government to separate girls from staying in the same classes with boys.
Newsonline reports that the plan to separate girls from boys in all public secondary schools in the state followed rising cases of moral decadence and reported cases of immorality in class among the students.
Reports from the Bauchi state education authorities are worried that moral decadence among secondary school students in co-education public schools is rising and other deviant behaviours among teenage secondary school students.
Last week, Bauchi State Commissioner of Education, Dr Aliyu Usman Tilde, announced the partitioning of secondary schools in the state according to sex, with separate resumption times for the students in some locations.
The protest is coming as schools in Bauchi resumed for a new academic session after a long holiday.
