I Was Deeply Hurt, So I Decided to Speak Out – Habibat Jinad Opens Up About Lateef Adedimeji

The Nollywood actress breaks her silence, revealing emotional details about her past experience with fellow actor Lateef Adedimeji.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nollywood actress Habibat Jinad has accused popular actor Lateef Adedimeji of rejecting a role in her movie and blocking her on social media for nearly four years.

The actress made the allegation in a video shared on Instagram, where she recounted how Adedimeji allegedly turned down her offer, claiming he only wanted to act in films featuring “fortunate people.”

Habibat said the remark deeply hurt her but she eventually decided to move on with her career. She further revealed that the actor blocked her for years and only unblocked her in January 2025.

The actress explained that she was unsure what caused the rift but felt compelled to speak up about how fame has changed some actors in the industry. She stressed that her intention was not to stir controversy but to share her feelings about the behavior of certain colleagues after achieving fame.

She said, “There was a time I wanted to shoot a movie and I told Lateef Adedimeji that he would be part of it. He told me point-blank that he only wants to feature in movies with fortunate people. I was like, who are those who are not fortunate? I was pained at first by his statement, but I moved on. He blocked me for about four years and only unblocked me in January 2025. I never understood what led to such action. I decided to speak out now, not to cause any drama, but to show how some colleagues change once fame comes their way.”

As of the time of this report, Lateef Adedimeji, known for his standout performances in Ayinla, Lisabi, and Jagun Jagun, has not responded to the allegations.
