NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) has been instructed by the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and other security leaders to arrest individuals suspected of sponsoring the #EndBadGovernance protests.
Among those expected to be detained is Omoyele Sowore, a former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) and a notable critic of the government.
These protests, initially peaceful, escalated into violence in various states, leading to fatalities and property destruction.
In response, the NIS has increased its presence at borders, airports, and land entry points to curb foreign involvement and detain suspects.
A senior immigration officer mentioned that Sowore and others would be arrested upon entering Nigeria, indicating that the NIS has been directed to capture and hand them over to the relevant authorities.
Additionally, surveillance efforts have been ramped up to prevent external meddling in the nation’s internal matters.
A source within the agency confirmed that Sowore is indeed on their watch list, as his name was included in the list of individuals to be apprehended upon arrival.
