Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has opened up on the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, revealing why the crisis will get messier.
Newsonline reports that Fayose said he had not spoken publicly on the matter earlier because he hoped things would get better, but now he has realized that if no action is taken urgently, things will only get messier.
The former Governor, who spoke in a statement on Sunday evening via his Twitter handle, concluded by praying his advice is not ignored.
This online news media recalls that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and some other PDP Governors, now known as the G5 and their loyalists have called on the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, to immediately resign.
They insisted that Ayu must resign and be replaced by a southerner.
According to them, it is not fair that both the party’s national chairman and its presidential candidate are from the north, adding that Ayu had promised to step down if a northerner emerges as the PDP presidential candidate.
However, Ayu has insisted on staying in office, maintaining that he has a four-year mandate from the PDP and except the party asks him to leave, he intends to see out his tenure.
The development has polarized the PDP with the Governors vowing not to have anything to do with the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his campaigns except Ayu steps down.
