NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has urged citizens to stop allowing religion and ethnicity to create division across the country.
In a recent post, Falz expressed deep concern over how tribal and religious sentiments continue to fuel hatred and conflict among Nigerians, noting that such divisions have caused years of pain and setbacks.
His remarks came after a heated online clash between some Christian and Muslim youths following U.S. President Donald Trump’s threat to launch military intervention in Nigeria — a move he claimed was to protect Christians from alleged attacks by Islamic extremists.
The comment reignited religious tension and rivalry on social media, prompting Falz to call for unity and independent thinking.
He wrote, “I cannot begin to explain how depressing it has been in recent years, seeing tribal and religious sentiments still being used to turn us against each other. At some point, we need to start thinking for ourselves.”
Similarly, comedian and skit maker Nasboi echoed Falz’s sentiment, urging Nigerians to look beyond tribal and religious divides and instead hold leaders accountable for corruption and poor governance.
He lamented that despite several cases of mismanaged public funds, citizens have remained largely silent instead of demanding justice and change.
