Chelsea manager, Graham Potter invited German-born Nigerian defender, Derrick Abu to train with the Blues’ first team ahead of their Premier League tie with Crystal Palace this weekend.
Newsonline report that the 18-year-old took part in the training session only because several first-team players were away on international duty with their respective countries.
Abu was spotted training with the likes of N’Golo Kante during a workout at Cobham Training Center.
Other academic players who took part in the training session include Charlie Webster, Omari Hutchinson, Dion Rankine, Dylan Williams, Ben Elliott, Alfie Gilchrist, Mason Burstow, Jude Soonsup-Bell, Brodi Hughes and Josh Brooking.
However, it is yet to be seen if Potter will include Abu in Chelsea’s match-day squad against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
