President Tinubu has sent Special Envoy to Plateau to restore peace and strengthen Inter-Community harmony amid alleged christian genocide claims.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has deployed an emissary, Dr. Abiodun Essiet, to Plateau State as part of renewed efforts to restore peace and rebuild inter-communal trust across the state.

Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced the development in a statement on Sunday in Abuja.

According to the statement, Essiet who serves as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North Central) spent the last two days in Plateau meeting Christian leaders, Fulani Miyetti Allah representatives, and other key community stakeholders. The engagements culminated in a major town hall meeting held in Jos, the state capital.

Delegates from various local government areas, traditional rulers, women groups, and youth leaders were all in attendance to deliberate on strengthening community-based peace structures and promoting peaceful coexistence.

Essiet also visited Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, Chairman of the Regional Church Council (RCC) in Barkin Ladi, where discussions focused on faith-based leadership and its importance in fostering unity, reconciliation, and social development. She further met with widows in the community, delivering President Tinubu’s message of ethnic reconciliation.

Dachomo is widely known as one of the strongest voices representing Christian communities in Plateau State.

The statement added that Essiet later met with Fulani leaders in Barkin Ladi to deepen dialogue and understanding between pastoralists and farming communities — a recurring source of tension in the state.

She also facilitated a workshop on establishing peace structures across the 17 Local Government Areas of Plateau and held a closed-door meeting with the Irigwe community, Miyetti Allah representatives, and the Bassa LGA Youth Council. The discussions centred on sustaining peace and strengthening the existing 17-member peace committee.

Essiet reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to inclusive governance and long-term peace, emphasizing that community-based peace structures remain vital tools for grassroots stability, dialogue, and reconciliation in the North Central region.
