NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has announced the opening of applications for multiple job vacancies across its institutions, inviting qualified candidates from member states to apply for various roles.

The regional bloc disclosed the recruitment opportunity on its official website, stating that it is seeking capable professionals to fill positions across several technical and administrative sectors.

According to the organisation, the available positions cover key areas including administration, finance, trade, infrastructure, health, telecommunications, legal affairs, and security.

The recruitment exercise spans dozens of roles across different countries. While many of the positions are based at the ECOWAS headquarters in Abuja, others are located in cities such as Dakar, Conakry, Addis Ababa, and across Liberia.

Some of the positions available include office aides, programme assistants, accountants, legal officers, political advisers, and senior management roles such as directors and principal officers.

ECOWAS stated that applicants must submit a completed application form, curriculum vitae, and a cover letter, which are required to be sent via email before the application deadline.

The application process opened on April 1, 2026, and will close on April 30, 2026.

The organisation also outlined age requirements for the different job categories, specifying that candidates for general service roles must be 35 years or younger, while professional roles have a maximum age limit of 45 years. Director-level positions are open to applicants up to 50 years old.

ECOWAS further encouraged female candidates to apply, noting that only shortlisted applicants will be contacted during the recruitment process.

The organisation highlighted several priority focus areas for recruitment, including macroeconomic policy, agriculture, energy, education, political affairs, and anti-money laundering initiatives.

Applicants were advised to regularly check the official website of the Economic Community of West African States for detailed job descriptions and submission guidelines.

The regional body also stressed that the recruitment exercise is free of charge and warned applicants not to make payments or provide banking details to any individual claiming to facilitate the process.

Established on May 28, 1975, the Economic Community of West African States is one of Africa’s largest regional blocs, created to promote economic integration and cooperation among West African countries.

The organisation includes member states such as Benin, Cape Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.

ECOWAS operates in English, French, and Portuguese, and oversees key institutions including the ECOWAS Parliament, Community Court of Justice of ECOWAS, West African Health Organization, and the Intergovernmental Action Group against Money Laundering in West Africa (GIABA).
