BREAKING: Tinubu Government Resumes Nnamdi Kanu’s Trial With New Lawyers

President Tinubu Government has resumed Nnamdi Kanu’s trial with new Lawyers despite pleas for his unconditional release.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is in court for the continuation of his terrorism trial  by President Bola Tinubu Federal Government.

 

This Nigeria news platform understands that Nnamdi Kanu was brought to court by the Department of State Services, DSS, on Monday morning.

In December 2023, the Supreme Court returned Kanu’s case to the Federal High Court for continuation of prosecution.

This was after the apex court dismissed the Appeal Court’s verdict that discharged and acquitted Kanu of all terrorism charges.

 

Against this backdrop, the court had scheduled February 8 for the hearing of Kanu’s terrorism charges.

 

But the trial was subsequently adjourned till February 26.

 

Also, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu’s Federal Government also hired new Lawyers.

 

While the prosecuting team is being led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN, replacing David Kaswe, a lawyer with the Federal Ministry of Justice, the defence team is now being led by P. A. M. Ejiofor, who replaced Mike Ozekhome (SAN).

 

The IPOB Leader also rejigged his legal team.

 

Meanwhile, NewsOnline Nigeria reports that there has been a region-wide plea for Kanu’s unconditional release by the Nigerian Government as a political solution to the crisis and lockdown in the South East.
