BREAKING: President Tinubu Restates Order Withdrawing Police From Ministers, Others

the President said the move is part of a broader strategy to redeploy officers to critical areas battling kidnapping and terrorism.

President Tinubu has restated order withdrawing police from Ministers among other VIP escorts.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday reaffirmed his directive withdrawing police personnel from VIP escort duties, warning that no minister, head of agency, or senior official will receive special security protection without his explicit personal approval.

Addressing cabinet members as he entered the Council Chambers for the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, the President said the move is part of a broader strategy to redeploy officers to critical areas battling kidnapping and terrorism.

Tinubu noted that he has already informed the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of the directive and stressed that all ministries, departments, agencies, and individuals must route their security requests through the police chief and ultimately his desk.

“If you have any security concerns because of the nature of your assignment, please contact the IGP and get my clearance,” he told officials.

To ensure that no one facing genuine threats is exposed, Tinubu also ordered the Minister of Interior to work with the IGP and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to immediately deploy civil defence operatives as replacements for withdrawn police escorts.

The President said the policy is aimed at restoring professionalism in police operations, strengthening internal security, and ensuring that frontline officers are available where they are most needed.
