NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The announcement was made on Thursday in a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. According to the statement, Adeniyi’s tenure, which was originally set to end on August 31, 2025, will now continue for an additional year.
President Tinubu said the extension was necessary to consolidate the ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Customs Service and ensure the successful completion of critical initiatives. These include the modernisation of the Customs Service, the implementation of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s full execution of its obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
The President praised Adeniyi’s leadership and dedication to service, expressing confidence that the extension will further enhance the Customs Service’s ability to carry out its core responsibilities of trade facilitation, revenue generation, and securing Nigeria’s borders.
