NewsOnline Nigeria reports that President Bola Tinubu has approved the creation of the National Tax Policy Implementation Committee (NTPIC) to drive the execution of his administration’s major tax reforms in alignment with Nigeria’s economic objectives.
The committee will be chaired by Joseph Tegbe, a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (FCIT), with more than 35 years of professional experience across the public and private sectors, including his role as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG Africa.
According to a statement issued by Presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, will supervise the committee’s activities.
The NTPIC is expected to undertake extensive consultations with stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to ensure inclusive input and widespread support for its implementation roadmap.
Special Adviser to the President on Finance and Economy, Mrs. Sanyade Okoli, will serve as secretary of the committee. Other members include Ismaeel Ahmed, Rukaiya El-Rufai, among additional seasoned professionals.
President Tinubu stressed that effective implementation of tax laws and policies is a cornerstone of his economic transformation agenda, crucial for strengthening public finance management and upholding investor confidence across productive sectors.
