NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Peter Obi, a leading presidential contender for the 2027 elections, has led a group of protesters to the National Assembly in Abuja.
The demonstration, which includes prominent activist Aisha Yesufu and numerous supporters, is aimed at demanding the inclusion of mandatory real-time electronic transmission of election results from polling units in the ongoing Electoral Amendment Bill deliberations.
Security personnel, including the police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other paramilitary units, have deployed vehicles and officers at strategic points to maintain order and manage the crowd.
The protest highlights growing public pressure on lawmakers to ensure transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s electoral process.
