BREAKING: PEROAN Await Portal Opening To Lift Warri Refinery Petroleum Products

‘’We intend to continue lifting petroleum products from the refinery once the NNPCL reopens its portal.”

PEROAN is currently awaiting a portal opening to lift Warri Refinery Petroleum Products.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria ( PETROAN) said it was awaiting the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to open its portal to enable it to lift petroleum products from the Warri refinery.

The 125,000 barrels per day, bpd refinery started operations and loading of petroleum products about one month ago after many years of rehabilitation.

Last week, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, said the plant was shut down for routine maintenance and would be back soon.

However, in his telephone interview with Vanguard, yesterday, the President of PEROAN, Dr. Billy Gillis-Harris, said: ‘’We have an allocation to lift from Warri   refinery. We were lifting from there before. We are waiting for the NNPCL to open its portal so we can continue lifting.

‘’We intend to continue lifting petroleum products from the refinery once the NNPCL reopens its portal.”

On his part, the National President, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, Alhaji Maigandi Garima, stated: “Our members lift Dangote Petroleum Refinery products through MRS from Warri and Calabar.

‘’Hopefully, we will start lifting from Port Harcourt Refinery, this week. As for the Warri and Port Harcourt refinery, we are waiting for NNPCL to start loading to our marketers.

‘’Majority of our members have shifted loyalty to Dangote/MRS arrangement thereby neglecting tank farm owners. It’s only marketers that are yet to complete their registration with the MRS arrangement that buy from depots.”

The Chief Communications Officer, Mr Olufemi Soneye, could not be reached for comments, yesterday.

But in his recent statement, Soneye, clarified that there was no explosion at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC), describing any report suggesting otherwise as “completely false”.

He stated: “On January 25, 2025, operations at WRPC Area 1 were intentionally curtailed to carry out necessary intervention works on select equipment, including field instruments that were impacting sustainable and steady operations.

“These intervention works are essential to ensure the production of finished and intermediate products, particularly Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Kerosene (Kero).

“The routine maintenance is progressing as planned, and Area 1 will be back in operation within the next few days. Despite ongoing interventions, over the past 11 days, AGO loading has been maintained at an average of eight trucks per day, with a sufficient supply available to sustain ongoing truck load-out operations.

“NNPC Ltd remains committed to ensuring uninterrupted product supply and appreciates the patience and cooperation of all stakeholders as it completes these essential maintenance activities”.
