BREAKING: Nnamdi Kanu Family, Lawyers, Journalists Denied Access To Court

Newsonline reports that there is frustration as only court workers were allowed into the premises as the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu’s trial resumed today.

However, it was observed that even some staff were not allowed in.

The reason for the denial was not made known by government officials.

Also allowed into the premises were reporters from a list produced by the stern looking armed operatives of the DSS.

Most of them were masked as they were clad in their all black ensemble.

Gathered outside were frustrated family members, supporters, civil rights groups, lawyers, journalists and other members of the public, who were not allowed near the court.

There were intense arguments between them and the security operatives, almost leading to scuffles.

A member of a civil society organisation, Deji Adeyanju, said: “At least even under military rule journalists would be given access to the courts.

“Members of the general public could also access the court. But today the reverse is the case. It is most unfortunate and unbelievable that this is supposed to be a democracy.

“Basically Nigerians should know that the President Muhammad Buhari regime has suspended the Constitution and we are practicing military rule in the country.”

Others, who spoke said it was undemocratic and some threatened to take up the matter further.
