NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Mamman Daura, a prominent nephew of the late President Muhammadu Buhari and a longtime influential figure within his inner circle, is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in London.
Daura, often associated with the powerful ‘Buhari cabal’, a group alleged to have wielded considerable influence over the late president’s administration was visited by Vice President Kashim Shettima during a condolence trip to the UK.
The Office of the Vice President confirmed Daura’s condition in an official statement detailing Shettima’s activities in London following the death of former President Buhari, who succumbed to leukaemia over the weekend.
“On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, upon arrival in London, met and condoled with the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari,” read the statement issued by Shettima’s spokesperson, Stanley Nkwocha.
The Vice President also visited Malam Mamman Daura at his London hospital, where he is reportedly recovering. The visit came as the Nigerian delegation awaited the completion of arrangements for the repatriation of Buhari’s body.
Recall that Vice President Shettima is leading the delegation, which includes the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila; Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; and Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia.
