BREAKING: Labour Party Writes Tinubu To Arrest, Prosecute Peter Obi Over Treasonable Felony

Abayomi added that his legal team would soon file a Mandamus suit to compel the President to take action against the individuals he accused of destabilizing the country.

Labour Party has written to President Tinubu to arrest and prosecute Peter Obi over alleged treasonable felony.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the factional Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP), Arabambi Abayomi, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to arrest, investigate, and prosecute former LP presidential candidate Peter Obi, as well as activists Aisha Yesufu and Sarah Ibrahim for their roles in inciting treasonable felony, cyberstalking, and cyber-bullying.

In an open letter to President Tinubu, Abayomi urged the President to uphold the rule of law and restore public decorum, stressing the need for equal application of the law to all Nigerians, regardless of political status.

Abayomi further stated that he would file a Mandamus suit at the Federal High Court in Abuja to compel Tinubu to direct relevant agencies to investigate the trio for their alleged roles in inciting unrest against the government.

The factional LP spokesperson said:

“I am compelled to write to you today regarding a matter of grave national importance that strikes at the very heart of our democracy, the rule of law, and the dignity of the highest office in the land: the Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Abayomi referenced a seven-day pre-action letter sent by Peter Obi’s legal team to Deji Adeyanju, demanding a retraction and apology for defamatory statements made by Adeyanju. He pointed out the irony in Obi’s actions, citing his October 2023 press conference, where Obi publicly questioned Tinubu’s identity, parentage, and academic credentials.

The letter further criticized Obi’s movement for waging a continuous campaign of calumny against President Tinubu, referring to his government as “illegitimate” and undermining the authority of the Supreme Court’s judgment that affirmed Tinubu’s election.

Abayomi’s letter continued:

“Every day, on various social media platforms, countless individuals affiliated with Mr. Obi’s movement engage in unchecked libel, openly referring to you in the most derogatory and criminal terms without any consequence.”

He called for urgent action from President Tinubu to address the unchecked libel and seditious rhetoric, stating that the law should equally protect Obi, Yesufu, and Ibrahim for their inflammatory statements.

The letter concluded by urging Tinubu to direct the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to investigate and arrest the trio, ensuring that no one is above the law in Nigeria.

Abayomi added that his legal team would soon file a Mandamus suit to compel the President to take action against the individuals he accused of destabilizing the country.
