NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Obafemi Hamzat has emerged victorious in the All Progressives Congress primaries held in Ikeja Ward B, securing a landslide 2,441 votes in a closely watched exercise that demonstrated the party’s strong grassroots structure in the area.
The primaries attracted party faithful, stakeholders, youths, women groups, and political leaders across the ward, with the exercise conducted peacefully under tight security amid high enthusiasm from APC members.
A major highlight of the exercise was the mobilisation effort led by respected APC chieftain, James Omolaja Odunmbaku, popularly known as Cardinal, whose grassroots coordination and political structure were credited for the successful turnout and orderly conduct of the primaries.
Supporters erupted in celebration shortly after the announcement of the results, describing Hamzat’s victory as a reflection of confidence in his leadership, loyalty to the APC, and contributions to governance and development in Lagos State.
Party leaders commended members for maintaining peace throughout the exercise and reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to internal democracy, party unity, and grassroots development.
They also urged party members to remain united ahead of the forthcoming elections, noting that the outcome of the primaries signals stronger consolidation for the ruling party in Ikeja and across Lagos State.
Speaking after the exercise, several stakeholders praised the transparent conduct of the primaries, saying it further strengthened confidence in the APC’s democratic process.
Cardinal Odunmbaku described the turnout as impressive, while political observers noted that the massive vote margin underscores Hamzat’s popularity and influence within the APC structure in Ikeja Ward B.
