BREAKING: Former NFA Chairman Ibrahim Galadima Is Dead

Galadima was a key figure in Nigerian sports administration, leading the NFA before its transition into the Nigeria Football Federation. He also served as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council between 1981 and 1983.

Former NFA Chairman Ibrahim Galadima is dead.

 

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, Ibrahim Galadima, has died after a prolonged illness.

 

His death was confirmed on Saturday by former NFA Secretary-General, Sani Ahmed Toro.

 

Galadima was a key figure in Nigerian sports administration, leading the NFA before its transition into the Nigeria Football Federation. He also served as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council between 1981 and 1983.

Born in 1951 in Fagge, Kano State, he had a distinguished career spanning decades in sports governance. He was a member of the National Sports Commission and served as Vice President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee from 1985 to 1987.

 

Galadima later returned as Chairman of the Kano State Sports Council and continued to contribute to sports development at both state and national levels.

 

He also played a role in Nigeria’s preparations for the 1995 FIFA World Youth Championship as a member of the Presidential Monitoring Committee on sports facilities. Additionally, he served on the Confederation of African Football Youth Championship Organising Committee.

 

In 2002, Galadima was elected chairman of the NFA, further solidifying his legacy as one of Nigeria’s most influential football administrators.

 

His burial arrangements are expected to be announced by his family.
