Ansaru Commanders
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the Federal Government through the Department of State Services (DSS) has filed multiple charges against two top commanders of the Ansaru terrorist group, Abu Baraa and Mahmuda.
Security sources told reporters on Friday that the suspects, apprehended in a recent covert operation, face terrorism-related charges under Nigeria’s anti-terrorism laws.
The allegations include leadership of a terrorist organisation, financing terrorism, recruitment, and coordinating violent attacks across the country.
According to sources, the DSS has fast-tracked investigations to ensure a speedy prosecution, following directives from its Director-General to uphold professionalism, justice, and human rights in handling terrorism cases.
The suspects are expected to be arraigned before the Federal High Court in Abuja in the coming days.
