President Tinubu
NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Fatima Alkali has turned down her nomination to serve as a commissioner in the Nigerian Law Reform Commission.
She was among the three people appointed by President Bola Tinubu in June 2025, alongside Dakas Dakas and Uchenna Okolocha.
While presenting its report on Tuesday, the Senate committee on judiciary, human rights, and legal matters revealed that Alkali, who was selected to represent the North-East, declined the appointment and communicated her decision to the presidency.
The two remaining nominees, Dakas from the North-Central and Okolocha from the South-South, appeared before the committee for screening.
The committee confirmed that both men met the required qualifications and recommended their approval.
The Senate later confirmed their appointments after a voice vote.
A replacement is expected to be nominated for the North-East slot, preferably another female candidate.
