NewsOnline Nigeria reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu, has taken an early lead in the Anambra State governorship election, winning his polling unit as vote counting commenced.
Voting began ahead of schedule in several areas due to the early arrival of materials and election personnel, in what is widely regarded as a closely contested race between the incumbent governor and his APC challenger.
Ukachukwu cast his vote at 11:46 a.m. at Umudimala 1, Polling Unit 011, Osumenyi Ward 2, Nnewi South Local Government Area.
Announcing the results, INEC presiding officer Esther Ojukwu said Ukachukwu secured 126 votes, defeating the incumbent governor, who garnered six votes at the polling unit.
