NewsOnline reports that Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has been elected chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors’ forum.
Also, the new governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, was elected as the deputy.
This online newspaper understands that Governor Mohammed and Fubara were elected during PDP retreat for newly elected officials held in Bauchi State on Saturday.
NewsOnline reports that Mohammed, who just got re-elected for second tenure, is replacing Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who is now the deputy chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
PDP acting national chairman, Umar Damagun, reminded the party members that as an opposition, they need to work together as one family.
“I want to reiterate, on the issue of the national assembly, we have to know we are an opposition. In order to remain relevant, we must work together as one family.
“That is the only way you will be able to ensure that your relevance is being determined,” Damagun stated.
Presidential candidate of PDP in the February 25 election, Atiku Abubakar, and other chieftains of the party, were in attendance.
Atiku urged PDP members not to lose hope yet, asserting that there is hope of victory at the election petition tribunal.
