Atiku Expresses Worry as Nigerian Youths Lose Hope Over Hardship and Bad Governance

Atiku urged them not to lose faith in democracy, stressing that political transformation is only possible through active participation at the polls.

Atiku has expressed worry as Nigerian youths lose hope over hardship and bad governance.

NewsOnline Nigeria reports that Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has voiced deep concern over what he described as growing hopelessness among young Nigerians due to hardship, fraudulent elections, and poor governance.

Writing on his Facebook page, Atiku said he feels saddened each time youths share their frustrations about the country’s direction, adding that meaningful change cannot be achieved through voter apathy.

“I am extremely concerned at how young Nigerians are losing hope about the future of our country,” he said. “Every time they talk to me about bad governance, fraudulent elections, and the hardship facing citizens, I feel deeply sad.”

The former Vice President disclosed that he recently met with a group of young Nigerians from the 19 northern states led by Alhaji Adamu Bappa Gombe, who expressed worry about electoral fraud and the impact of government policies on their livelihoods.

Atiku urged them not to lose faith in democracy, stressing that political transformation is only possible through active participation at the polls.

“I reminded them that the change they desire cannot be attained by voter apathy. The 25% to 30% voter turnout we see in every election is discouraging. I challenge them to influence massive participation in 2027,” he said.

Atiku reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring Nigeria is rescued from what he called “anti-democratic forces.”
