She is one of four daughters born to Frederica, who was the daughter of small-town news publisher and editor Leo Henry Brown. Angie graduated from Jefferson High School in California and earned a Business Diploma from Glendale Community High School in 1954. She worked as a secretary at Burbank’s Bob Hope Airport.

She decided to continue her career as an actress after her successful stint on “The Colgate Comedy Hour.” Angie made her television acting debut in an episode of “Death Valley’s Days,” after which she played a variety of memorable characters in episodes such as “Mike Hammer” and “Wagon Train.”

Angie’s big-screen career began with a small, uncredited role in the film “Lucky Me.” After some struggle, she landed her first lead role in “Gun the Man Down” and she followed it up with a well-received performance in “China Gate.” However, it was in 1959 that she received her first-ever breakthrough role in renowned director Howard Hawks’ film “Rio Bravo,” which was a drama/romance film starring Ricky Nelson and other notable actors. Angie later landed the lead role in the blockbuster film “Ocean’s 11.”
